Common Dreams “Flotation school“ is an ongoing autonomous climate school, providing workshops on survival, sustainability, climate adaptation, climate grief and loss of landscapes.
The first presentation of this school was in 2017, in Oude Dokken in Gent, which is a neighborhood undergoing far-reaching urban gentrification. The floating installation has been used since then, as a common space for the boat community to organize gatherings.
Between 2017-18, the floating school established a relationship with local organizations and schools. Various workshops were presented, imagined, experimented with various methods, techniques, tools for climate adaptation, sustainability and regenerative solutions.
Common dreams is a mobile prototype of a climate school, which can travel and adapt to other cities in collaborative alliances with universities, art institutions and sustainable organizations.
